Overall my experience is good, and the science education is absolutely excellent. This is a ‘mixer’ school, thats to say that they don’t adhere to the super-straight principles of chiropractic and like to use multiple modalities. I do have a problem with the administration, it seems to me that the board & president arn’t afraid to waste my money on things that are unnecessary, like TV’s and carpets that look the same as the old ones… but we do have lots of things other schools don’t, such as a full recreation-gym-pool center, plenty of classrooms, and an wonderful cadaver lab.

Overall, my experience at NYCC was pretty good. Clinical experience was fair; however, it would have been better if we had more rotations like the one at University of Buffalo.

If you would like to learn “Chiropractic” in a very allopathic and scientific way then NYCC may be a place you could be interested in. I quoted Chiropractic, because allopathic philosophy and real Chiropractic are conflicting ideals, but that is not the point of this forum. We learned absolutely no philosophy, traditional subluxation based chiropractic is essentially made fun of by faculty and student alike at NYPT. There was only one class that taught us any philosophy. I would say greater than 50% of my class haven’t even heard of the Green Books, and maybe only 1 or 2 people have actually done any reading of them (the Green Books are what Chiropractic is based off of, it’s similar to a Christian not even knowing what the Bible is). The technique department is sorely lacking and is even more flawed than the philosophy education I received. I never learned Drop, SOT, HIO, Activator, Torque release, or any structural technique such as CLEAR, Pettibon, or CBP. For those of you who are not that familiar with Chiropractic techniques, these are some of the most highly utilized techniques by practicing Chiropractors. The science and Board Preparation areas are where NYCC does a passable job. I’m sure it is clear that I do not recommend anyone go to NYCC. I certainly would and will not recommend it to anyone that I care about in the future, nor will I be donating any money in the future.
